Steven Chen was born August of 1978 in Taipei, Taiwan. When he was 15, he and his family immigrated to the United States. Chen graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He then went on to work at PayPal, where he met two people who would later be of importance in his life.

Steven Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim founded YouTube in 2005. YouTube is a website designed to simplify video sharing online. It was already ranked the 10th most popular website in only a year after launch! Over 100 million video clips are viewed daily on YouTube and 65,000 new videos are uploaded everyday. YouTube has taken the American society by storm. I, myself, like to watch videos on this site. This site can be useful, as there are many how to's and video tutorials. The videos also serve as a source of entertainment with its comedy and music catergories.

Chen currently serves as Chief Technology Officer and was named one of the "The 50 people who matter now" by Business 2.0 magazine in 2006. That year, he and Hurley sold YouTube to Google, Inc. for $1.65 billion in stock.

As I am also Asian-American, Chen inspires me to meet and collaborate with new people, and reach new potentials with others around me. I enjoy making videos at home in my spare time. I have once dreamed of pursuing a career in film and media.
